Rekindling Love With Sky Ferreria

Technically I didn’t just find 21-year old Sky Ferreria, in fact I found her when she was 19. I was totally obsessed with her back then and thought she was just about the coolest girl on the planet.  Keep in mind this was when I was 12 and had just discovered the magic of music so anything that my mom hadn’t heard of was cool.  Looking back at how much of a girl crush I had on her is pretty funny though.  I loved her so much because she wasn’t confined to single genre.  Whatever my mood was there was a Sky song for it.  “Sad Dream”  for when I felt depressed at my lack of good books to read. “17” for when I felt like acting cool in front of my sister.  She even had “Everything Is Embarrassing” for when I wanted to feel all vintage.  I really don’t know what made me lose my love for her. It might have had something to do with a certain boy band coming into my life, but I don’t know.

Anyways I was recently doing something on Youtube when in the side bar there was an ad for her new music video for “You’re Not The One”.  It took me a minute to remember my obsession with her.  But once I had gotten through the initial shock of course I had to listen to her new song to make sure she hadn’t lost her cool since I had last listened to her.  Thankfully she hasn’t.  Judging her newer song she seems to be learning back into her old 80’s influenced indie pop.  Good thing I’m still in a indie phase.  Sky is proof that you can go back to old artists and still be in love with them. One other thing my boy, Harry Styles, follows her on twitter so that right there makes her insanely cool.  Until next time I leave you with the best of her 80’s sound.  Enjoy my lovelies.
