Summer Reading

Posted: May 24, 2013 by Ashley in Blog, Books, Review

From my teen contributors, I’ve gathered a few books/authors that they recommend.?????????????  With summer just around the corner, you and your teen may be looking for something new to read.

  • James Patterson – Maximum Ride series, Witch & Wizard series,  The Dangerous Days of Daniel X
  • Katherine Lasky – Wolves of the Beyond series
  • John Flanagan – Brotherband Chronicles, Ranger’s Apprentice series
  • Francis Chan – Crazy Love
  • Edgar Allen Poe
  • Stephen King – Cell Phone

*Just a note that you may want to have your teen check their school’s required reading list for the summer.  A few from the Freshman list for Meadowcreek HS include:

  • any book from the Hunger Games series
  • Veronica Roth – Divergent or Insurgent
  • Aldous Huxley – Brave New World
  • Edith Hamilton – Mythology
  • Sharon Draper – Romiette and Julio

    Just some suggestions….

As a mom I think I may need to read the book surviving Freshmen yr,. 🙂

I plan to go to the library this week end and try to let them get some really interesting books for summer. Reading is something we all love in our family and to me knowledge is power so….
lets encourage our teens to use that knowledge in many ways… 🙂

I would love the teens to comment on what they are reading and to see what each one has chosen as well as I would love to hear the views from the teens on summer school.
I am really interested in what they have to say and how they are going to change if anything in the up coming school yr.
